“Wine 5.17” Released, runs Windows apps on Linux

September 11, the developers team behind the compatibility layer to run Windows applications on Linux and BSD-based OS “Wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator)” announced its latest development release “Wine 5.17”.

This latest development release “Wine 5.17” is the successor of Wine 5.16, released at the end of August. As a side note, the latest stable version is Wine 5.0.2, released on August 7.

In this release, ADVAPI32 library is converted to PE. As a part of the efforts to support NDIS (Network Driver Interface Specification), this release includes creating network card registry keys and devices.

This release adds numerous feature improvements and in total 17 bug fixes, which include support for conversion from GST_VIDEO_FORMAT_RGB to DirectShow-supported formats.
