Oracle Released “Oracle VM VirtualBox 6.1.14”, with support for Linux 5.8
September 4, Oracle released the latest stable version of the open-source virtualization technology “Oracle VM VirtualBox 6.1.14”. This point release brings support for Linux 5.8.
VirtualBox is a virtualization technology for x86 and AMD64/Intel64. It can be installed to Windows, Linux, macOS, and Solaris to virtually run multiple operating systems. VirtualBox 6.1.14 is the latest release of the v6.1, released in September 2019, and it is the successor of v6.1.12, released in July.
This latest release adds support for Linux kernel 5.8. Now Linux 5.8 is supported in both guest and host modes. It also brings improvements to macOS host and Windows host. For example, it has fixed the issue that VBoxHeadless mode could not start VMs.
Regarding GUI, it fixed the problem that file name couldn’t be changed in the File location field when creating Virtual Hard Disk for VMs. As to Shared Clipboard, it fixed a potential crash when copying HTML data.
It includes many other fixes and improvements.
