Open-Source Movie Editor “Kdenlive 20.08” Released
August 17, the development team of the open-source movie editor “Kdenlive” rolled out the latest version “Kdenlive 20.08”.
Kdenlive is an open-source movie editor built on Qt and KDE Frameworks libraries. The video processing is done by the non-linear video editor engine MLT Multimedia Framework, which relies on FFmpeg, freiOr, movit , and other open-source projects. Started around 2003, Kdenlive project became part of KDE project, and it is included in various distributions.
Kdenlive follows a three-times-a-year release cycle. The latest release is the successor of v20.04 released in April. This release brings stability improvements and includes Multiple Audio Stream support.
Having conducted the refactoring of the project file, this release fixes the long-standing issue with comma and point. Due to this change, project files that are created with this latest version are not backward compatible. This release has also improved audio thumbnail generation and JPG image sequence playback.
The interface layout is renewed, with improved layout of the workspaces, for example, logging for reviewing footage, editing the timeline, audio mixing. In regards to audio, this release supports multiple audio stream, aiming to implement an advanced audio workflow. They plan to introduce audio routing and channel mapping in the next releases.
The Clip Monitor now has zoom bars, making it easier to adjust keyframes. A new cache management interface allows you to control the size of cached and proxied files as well as backup-ed data.
This release also includes new shortcuts and many other small feature enhancements.
