“Apache SkyWalking 8.1” Released, application performance monitor tool for distributed system

August 3, the developers behind the open-source application performance monitor tool (APM) “Apache Sky Walking” announced its latest stable release “Apache SkyWalking 8.1”.

Apache SkyWalking is an application performance monitor software for distributed systems. It can collect telemetry data from multiple data sources and formats. It can monitor, track, and diagnose the performance of microservices, cloud-native and container-based applications like Docker, Kubernetes, and Apache Mesos.

Apache SkyWalking 8.1 is the latest point release of the v8 series, which came out in June.

This release includes support for Apache Kafka as an optional trace, JVM metrics, profiling snapshots, and meter system data transport layer. It now supports JVM thread metrics. Also supported are the Meter systems, including the native metrics APIs and the Spring Cloud Sleuth for distributed tracing.

As to Java agent, it adds support for GraphQL plugin, InfluxDB Java client plugin, and many more. It also supports to trace call procedures in MySQL plugin.

There are many other improvements included in this release.
