Debian 10.5 Released, “BooHole” vulnerability fixed
August 1, the developers behind Linux distribution Debian released “Debian 10.5”, which is the latest stable version of Debian 10 “buster”. This release has fixed the vulnerability problem in the GRUB2 bootloader.
Debian 10.5 is the 5th point release of the v10 series, which came out in July.
This release focuses on security fixes, and most notable is that they have fixed the serious“BootHole” issue found in GRUB2 bootloader, which allowed attackers to break through UEFI Secure Boot. BootHole is a vulnerability found at the end of July, and this enabled attackers to execute arbitrary code. Also in regards to security, this release has updated its ClamAV anti-virus. Vulnerability found in file-roller (archive manager) has been fixed as well.
Linux kernel has been updated to 4.19. As to the download utility Jigdo, JTTPS support in jigdo-lite and jigdo-mirror has been fixed.
This release includes numerous package improvements and updates.
