Free Accounting Software “GnuCash 4.0” Released
June 28, Free Accounting Software “GnuCash” development team announce the latest major release “GnuCash 4.0”.
GnuCash is a free financial management software licensed under GNU GPL. It provides accounting functions like double-entry bookkeeping, reporting formats, and forecast transactions. It runs on Linux, BSD, Solaris, macOS, and Windows.
The latest major release GnuCash 4.0 is the successor of version 3 released in 2018.
This release introduces a new separate executable, gnucash-cli command-line tool for handle things like updating the prices on books. It can run reports from the command line. It also provides an export format and an output file name.
This release brings a new Transaction Association dialog. Now symbol, like paperclip for files and chain links for URL, is displayed in the Association column. Associations can be added to invoices, bills, and the likes. It also brings improvements in search functionality and auto-completion.
As to importing transactions, the OFX (Open Financial Exchange) file importer can now import more than one file at a time.
In regards to reports and budgets, functionality has been improved with a better GUI. Python bindings are now localized. The code is significantly improved. Functions that were deprecated in 3.x are now removed.
GnuCash supports Windows (8.1 and later) and macOS (10.13 ‘High Sierra’ and later).
