LibreOffice 6.4.4 Released

May 21, The Document Foundation released the latest version of the open-source productivity suite “LibreOffice 6.4.4”. It is available on the project website.

LibreOffice is a free/open-source productivity suite. It is made up of word processor “Writer”, spreadsheets “Calc”, presentations “Impress”, graphics and flowcharts “Draw”, database manager “Base”, and formula editor “Math”, and can be used on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Cloud version “LibreOffice Online” is also available.

LibreOffice 6.4.4 is the latest point release of LibreOffice 6.4, which was released at the end of January. There are two lines in the stable versions of LibreOffice, and one of which is called “Fresh”, which includes all the latest features, and the other is called “Still”, whose focus is on stability. The 6.4 series is categorized in Fresh. (The latest version of Still is version 6.3.3, which was released at the end of April.)

LibreOffice 6.4.4 includes nearly 100 bug fixes. The bug found in the interoperability with Microsoft Office and application-specific bugs found in Writer and Calc have been fixed.

The development team is currently working on “LibreOffice 7.0”, which will be the next major release coming out in August, and alpha1 is already released. Support for the 6.3 series of Still will come to an end by the end of May to move on to the 6.4 series of Still. The next version 6.4.5 of the 6.4 series is scheduled to come out at the end of June.
