Apache Brooklyn 1.0 Released, a software for managing cloud applications
March 3, Apache Software Foundation announced Apache Brooklyn 1.0, a management tool for distributed applications.
Apache Brooklyn is a framework for modeling, monitoring, and managing distributed applications on cloud. In 2015, Apache Software Foundation called it the top-level project. Inspired by autonomic computing, it supports both ‘OASIS CAMP’, specification for managing cloud applications, and ‘TOSCA’, standard for deployment.
By using YAML format to describe application, all its components necessary for deployment and execution, and necessary treatment during deployment, that can be used for deploying and managing applications. In regards to platforms that can deploy and manage, it supports over 20 public clouds, for example Amazon EC2, and it can also be used on private clouds and BareMetal environment. It also allows REST API-based automation and using web console for monitoring
This version introduces an enhanced web-based UI that can be operated via drag-and-drop Blueprint Composer, a tool for modeling. REST API and CLI tools for power users are also improved,
Apache Brooklyn 1.0 is available on the project website.
