Firefox 73 Released
February 11, Mozilla released Firefox 73, an open-source web browser. It now includes a new setting for page zooming.
Mozilla has introduced a four-week release cycle since the release of Firefox 72, and Firefox 73 is the latest release following v72, which was released in the beginning of January.
There is a new feature that helps users to view contents more easily and quickly. To use the preexisting page-zoom feature, users had to adjust the zoom level for each new website, but now the new zooming feature offers global default zoom level. This can be set in about:preferences under “Language and appearance”.
The Window’s High Contrast Mode, which people with weak eyesight rely on, used to disable background images. However, introduced with “readability backplate” solution, which places a block of background color between the text and the background images, the readability is improved. There are other small improvements added to features like Picture-in-Picture.
There are some enhancements added especially for developers, like the new CSS logical properties “overscroll-behavior-block” and “overscroll-behavior-inline”. There are “yearName” and “relatedYear” fields added to DateTimeFormat.prototype.formatToParts(), and “requestSubmit()” method added to HTMLFormElement interface.
On the same day, Mozilla also released the latest v68.5.0 for Android.
