GitLab 12.7 Released

January 22, GitLab, a Dutch company who develops Git repository manager “GitLab”, released the latest version “GitLab 12.7”.

GitLab is a software which provides functions like managing Git repositories and packages, configuration, monitoring, DevOps, and CI/CD tool chain. Besides the open-source version offered for free, they also offer subscription divided into three levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold) accordingly to the levels of functionality and support.

GitLab 12.7 is the latest release, following GitLab 12.6 released in December 2019. The first release of 12 series happened in June 2019.

Now Pipeline Resource Groups can manage the shared pipeline resources. By limiting the pipeline’s parallelism, it can efficiently manage jobs and resources. For the fee-based version, improvements are made to enhance speed and work efficiency.

Now Windows Shared Runners are available in beta. It allows running CI/CD jobs on Windows virtual machine, and it is equipped with features like auto-scaling. Windows Share Runners are hosted on GCP, as well as gitlab.com http://gitlab.com/. Features like Chocolatey package manger for Windows, Visual Studio 2019 Build Tools, and microsoft.NET http://microsoft.net/ Framework are installed by default.

Merge Request widget now shows information like time of the deployment and environment name. Cod Review Analytics, an improved feature available on the fee-based version, now helps finding Merge Requests in review that need intervention.

It includes many other improvements.
