Microsoft Officially Released Chromiun-based “Edge”

January 15, Microsoft announced the release of Chromium-based web browser “Microsoft Edge”. The version number is 79.0.309.65. It supports Windows and MacOS on desktops, and iOS and Android on mobile platforms. It supports over 90 languages.

Initially, Microsoft Edge was originally developed exclusive to Windows 10. However, as it was announced in December 2018 that Edge would be based on Google Chromium, this time it came out as its first official version. Chromium is developed as an open source project, and there is not only Google Chrome, but also other browsers like Opera and Vivaldi, which are Chromium based.

It promises to provide great performance, privacy, and productivity. There are three levels to Microsoft Edge 79 tracking prevention. The default setting “Balanced” is the one in the middle, which blocks trackers from unvisited sites. The new tab page lets you customize the layouts and design to enhance the web experience.

It also provides Azure Active Directory (AAD) synchronization feature, Internet Explorer mode, 4K streaming support, Dolby audio, Microsoft Search in Bing integration, and many more.

Microsoft Edge for Windows (version 7/8/8.1/10) and MacOS can be downloaded from the dedicated website. It also offers delivery of Edge via Windows Update.
