Microsoft Teams for Linux Desktop, now available in public preview

December 10, Microsoft announced the Linux preview version of Microsoft Teams, a developer collaboration tool.

Microsoft Teams is a software equipped with features that are essential to collaboration, such as communication and collaborative editing features. It is offered as a part of Microsoft 365 app, and features such as chat, group chat, and video conference are ready to be used. Desktop apps have already been available for Windows and MacOS, and mobile apps for iOS an Android.

It now being available for Linux, there are DEB format and RPM format packages. It is the first Microsoft 365 app for Linux desktop, enabling all core features to be used.

As Microsoft acknowledges that most of their customers are in environments where devices run on a variety of different platforms such as Windows 10, Linux and others, they are committed to supporting mixed environments for both cloud and productivity tools.
